For those that may not be aware, our mom, Deb Langenhuizen, was diagnosed with ALS a couple of years ago. Since then, Deb and Chris (dad) have moved to Waukesha to be closer to their daughters Carissa and Gabby (not in that order of priority lol) and Froedtert Hospital, where they receive primary care for Mom.

Due to the effects of the disease, Mom has lost her ability to speak without device assistance and is struggling with the use of her arms but is making the best of each day. She also has a feeding tube for food because she is not able to swallow well. With the lack of mobility in her arms, she is unfortunately not able to feed herself without a lot of assistance. Although she is continuing to fight and remains in good spirits, each day things get a little bit harder. Requiring more care on a daily basis, Chris, Carissa, and Gabby have stepped up to help more each week. On times we are unable to help, we have a wonderful caregiver come over named Cricket a couple of mornings and sometimes afternoons a week. In addition to increased personal care, Mom has multiple tools to help make each day a bit more comfortable, recommended by her neurologist. We continue to see multiple specialists at Froedtert who encourage us and have supported us throughout this process.

Many have asked how they can help and where they can donate to. Although we love updating you on our CaringBridge, any donations you wish to make can be done here. Now that our mom needs almost around-the-clock help, we are looking to increase our care both from the caregiver and any mobility aids in the near future. While all of these things are great to help, it does not come at a cheap cost. We kindly ask for your help in this time of need. We know Deb has many fans and loved ones who are itching to support her and our family. Anything you are able to provide, we could not appreciate more.
