Support Dean's Recovery After Hit and Run
Donation protected
On October 19th, Dean was involved in a serious hit and run accident while on his motorcycle. He suffered 3 broken ribs and 5 fractured spinal processes. He doesn’t have short or long term disability. Nor does qualify for FMLA (due to the terrible conditions Mother Nature gave us for his work this past year, landscaping and plowing) and has lost his job since being “medically cleared” is TBD. Dean is now home, which is great, but that leaves Cass to do all of the things for everyone from all day everyday.
We have 3 boys, 22mo-8yo, Cass works overnights and already has a second job. Unfortunately, she already doesn’t get enough sleep, especially on her work weeks, since we can’t afford childcare and Cyrus is at home. We’ve been scraping by with bills. We’ve already been going to the food shelf at least once a month, but unfortunately, most of the food is expired or moldy or will be within days. Cass has also been donating plasma at least twice a week if her schedule allows. Anything the family needs, Cass uses every and any app she can for coupons and almost never pays full price for anything.
We are really being run through the wringer right now with this incident and other previous unplanned expenses and situations. Not to mention the terrible cost of living. It’s taking its toll on us and we are trying our best to prevent our kids from feeling the effects. We have had some wonderful friends and coworkers send us funds, gift cards and groceries that will get us through the next month.
We have been encouraged to start a GoFundMe in hopes asking for help can reach others. We understand that many are struggling, but if we could make enough to get through the next few months, to help alleviate some of this unhealthy burden on Cass, that would be great. She needs to be healthy to take care of the family and work as much as possible.
