Hello! My name is Jose with the 411 Collective.

We’re raising money for our friends who have been working hard on the street vending food and drinks in Columbia Heights DC for years. They have been Negatively impacted by increased ICE threats and recent MPD cooperation and need your help!

Meet Gloria, who immigrated here and has been vending for over 10 years. She went against all odds as the first to sell on this now popular vending block. Over the tests she faced regular police harassment, destruction of her equipment and livelihood, and multiple fines from the city. Because she stood her ground and with the help from the community, she was not only able to keep her business, but also pave the way for many of the others vending there today.

Recently, with militarized occupation and MPD cooperation with ICE, the vending community has taken a hit. Many have not been able to return on a regular basis to make an living under the threat of deportation and abduction, and lost members of the community.

Gloria and others have been through so much to make it this far. They make so many people happy each day with fresh fruits, juices, and snacks. Help show your support and help us raise our goal to help compensate their losses under these horrible and unfair circumstances.
