The Daytime Warming Center of Washtenaw County (DWC) is a project of Mission A2 (http://www.missiona2.org/) that has been running for ten + years. The DWC rotates to different locations in Ann Arbor from November-March, and in Ypsilanti is at the Freighthouse. We rely 100% on donations for our supplies.

We are endorsed by the county as THE place for people to go during the day to stay warm (https://www.washtenaw.org/2789/Winter-Warming-Centers). The DWC is really important in our community as there are no other places for folks to go during the day during winter months.

We are a survival program and your support keeps us running and saves lives.

We rely on donations for almost everything: From the spaces we occupy, to the food we serve, to the supplies we use and give. Every space we are hosted in is free, and the space takes on the expense of hosting us (increased electric and water utilities, plumbing and other maintenance expenses).

What is the money for?

+food for snacks, breakfast, and lunch when we don't have donations

+other supplies like office supplies, cleaning supplies,

+bus tokens, bus tokens, bus tokens!! People rely on us for bus tokens! Here is where you can find out where to buy bus tokens if you want to donate.

+stipends for when members of the community step up to support staff.

+supporting guests with more specific needs.

+Supporting the churches that host us for free with plumbing and maintenance issues.

About the DWC

In partnership with local faith communities and the Shelter Association of Washtenaw County (SAWC), we are a warm and welcoming space where people can gather to share their experiences, their stories, resources and friendship. In doing so we keep one another safer and break down the barriers between "homeless" and "homeful" folks in our community.
