Support Dawn's Battle: Cancer & Rare Illness

Hi all, my name is Marilyn. The Hinterbergers became a very big part of my life over 10 years ago when I moved to a new school district and became best friends with Dawn’s daughter Rebecca. There were countless nights and even weeks that I would spend at their home, and Dawn would always treat me as one of her own despite the battles she always faced.

Dawn, who was recently diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma on her leg, will be undergoing surgery and radiation in hopes to cure it. Unfortunately, Dawn has lived her entire life with a rare disease called Epidermolysis Bullosa, which is a group of diseases that cause the skin to be extremely fragile and to blister easily. Dawn’s disease has been severe and has continued to worsen over the years. This type of disease will make her treatment very difficult as well as extensive, as doctors have very little knowledge of how to navigate this advanced skin disease along with the cancer.

With recently having to leave her job because of her complications with EB, Dawn will soon be losing her health insurance which also means losing coverage for her bandage and feeding tub supplies. With her daughters Rebecca and Julie being the sole care providers for the foreseeable future, I wanted to find a way to help ease their financial burden so they can focus primarily on helping their mom and navigate this very difficult journey.
