Support David Bain's Fight against Mesothelioma

Donation protected
This go fund me is being started for my dad , David Bain Sr. He has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 pleural mesothelioma (cancer of the linings of the lungs )which is caused by asbestos exposure . Mesothelioma is not curable , but treatable . My father has been a carpenter and worked independently his whole life since his mid 20's . He has been the hardest worker i have ever known . Dad has been exposed to asbestos alot during his career as a carpenter . It is found in sidings, roofs, plaster, pipe inuslation etc . We are still trying to find a good means of treatment for dad .Our family and him have been actively looking for the best care. Please keep us in your prayers as we seek treatment for him. I feel as if he is worried about cost of treatment. Knowing my dad he is. Hes a very selfless man and always taking care of everyone else before himself. I have never seen him spend on himself . Thats why I am starting this Go fund me in hopes that financials will not be a burden for him when making a decision . Any help anyone could give would be amazing. We ask for prayers for dad.

Update: 8/28/24

Dad is now in Calfiornia getting treatment for Mesothelioma. He will be there a total of 4-5 weeks and the treatment is everyday during the week. His first treatment went well. Please pray for dad and thank you to all that have reached out . We are very thankful.

Update 9/21/2024
Dad is still undergoing treatment and has started chemo last week. Before the chemo the doctors discovered fluid in dads abdomen . He now has a drain at his abdominal area . Now that he has two drains this requires two different kinds of drainage bottles which is very costly. Average of $60 for every bottle and he does drain every day. The doctors are recommending planting radiation seeds in several different areas which is very costly . Dad only has medicare part A (this only covers hospital visits) This does not cover treatments , drainage bottles etc.

Update: 10/11/2024
My wife , children and I went to visit dad on 9/26-10/5 . It was a very good visit and mom and dad were very happy to see us and we are so happy we were able to spend quality time together. I didnt want to leave . Dad has lost some weight and did seem pretty weak . He has lost around 9 lbs since startimg treatment . He does get winded while walking pretty easily and he has a hard time carrying on long conversations without having a coughing spell . I continue to pray that this treatment shows improvement soon . I did observe that the fluid that he drains each day does look alot more clear now . Before he left for treatment the drainage was very dark. I feel optimistic in seeing this improvement . Dad did have a infection in his abdominal area where he has a abdomen tube . He was able to get that cleared up thank the Lord. Thank you all who have prayed , sent letters , donations and all who have called to check up on us. I am really thankful for having such a great circle of family and friends. I will say dad still does have a very positive attitude and is determined to get better. He wanted me to make a big shoutout to everyone and say thank you ! If you know dad he is not very good with technology. He is very old school. When he gets the strength and gets better he wants to send everyone letters he said.

Dad in the second week of November will be getting Titanium radiation seeds placed in the areas where the mesothelioma is found. This will help target the certain home bases of the mesothelioma. Dad is still in California recieving treatment and will be there until December . He has lost around 20 lbs since beginning treatment . He doesnt have much of a appetite. He is rather weak, but is continuing to stay positive . He did recently recieve a p.e.t scan and we hope to receive the update soon. Hoping and praying for improvement!

Post cards for dad are encouraged! if you need the address to send one contact Adam Bain, Christina Bain, Pat Bain Shannon Bain, Amanda Dreyer, David Bain

We appreciate the continued prayers , encouragement , and willingness to share and help. This money has helped with bills, buying, and shipment costs of the pleur-X kits so far.

Dad now has a abdomen drain tube which requires a different kimd of bottle in addition to the one he already had. These donations are helping pay for that as well.
