Support David and Leilani's Kidney Transplant Journey

Hello friends and family! My name is Christa, I am David and Leilani’s sister in law.

As many of you are well aware, David went into cardiac arrest in June of 2020, during a surgery. We were not given much hope of his survival.

During this time, he was placed on ecmo ( basically this machine beats his heart for him) in hopes that his body could rest enough to recover. In another turn of events, his organs began shutting down. By miracles, prayers, love and David’s strong will to fight, he woke up! However he was still not out of the woods. He spent the next month on dialysis, seeing specialists for his heart, kidneys, blood, neuro and genetics.

He has been hospitalized numerous times due to his kidneys, a muscle disease that they are still trying to diagnose, and a great decline in his overall health.

David was recently was told he is in stage 5 kidney failure and will need a kidney.

By the grace of God, his loving wife, Leilani tested to see if she could donate to him and she is a perfect match!

Leilani has used most of her accrued sick time and PTO to help David and be there with him for his appointments. David is a 1099 independent contractor, which means if he isn’t working he isn’t getting paid. He gets no vacation time, no sick time , zero paid time off.

Both Leilani and David will be out of work for various appointments pre surgery, as well as 6 weeks or more post transplant with plenty of post surgical appointments that will require time off.

We are so grateful for Leilani being able and willing to give David a kidney and a shot at a better quality of life.

We just want to help them in any way we can, to not have to stress over paying bills while going through this process.
