Life is a beautiful, beautiful thing. So many joys to be had, so many experiences, and if you are lucky enough like me, have a beautiful family to share it with. My brother and I were TRULY blessed with amazing parents. Many of you know of the cancer journey that ended for my mother in December of 2022. But, what many of you don’t know is, my dad started his own cancer journey in November of 2024. What he thought for a long time was a hernia issue turned out to be stage 4 colon cancer. After the loss of my mother not even two years earlier, this was a truly devastating blow to our family. He started his treatments, did all the things. It was looking good after the first three rounds of treatments, but we soon realized after about 6 treatments, he had new tumors and the old ones were growing. He had decided prior to that news to pause treatment for a little while. He was weak, couldn’t eat, had a hard time swallowing, and just having a hard time living life. Another treatment option was slightly on the table, but it was ultimately decided that new treatment would take away more life than give him. So, he made the difficult decision to stop treatment completely and enjoy what he has left as much as possible. That was almost two weeks ago. The doctor gave us about 1-2 months at that point. Today, we are enjoying every moment we can. If you know my dad, you know what a selfless human being he is. He has been a pillar of our community, in not only Roanoke, but Huntington County, for as long as I can remember. He was a member of the Roanoke Volunteer Fire Department, serving as Fire Chief for many years. He was also the Assistant Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 131, member and President for the Roanoke Fall Festival Committee, member and president of the Roanoke Town Council, and most recently, Emergency Management Services where he served for 10 years. Because of this, I am asking for the community that he loved so much and gave so much time and energy to, to support him as much as he has all of us. He deserves it. All funds raised would go toward his final expenses and toward his celebration of life when the time comes. He is a fiercely private and quiet person. He has approved me putting this on for him, surprisingly. I never wanted to come across as selfish or needy for doing this, but my heart aches for him. For so many reasons. He needs this. He needs us. If you can’t give, please pray. Please pray for his peace and comfort in his final days. Please pray for our family as we prepare to navigate this world without this amazing, selfless soul in it. How can there be a world without my dad in it? Without Dave Tucker? Seems incomprehensible. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. If you would like to support or give in a way that isn’t related to the GoFundMe, that’s ok, too! You could always reach out to myself or my brother Matt. Thank you, thank you, to those who have remained a constant support for us. It means more than you know.
