Help Dave and Theresa Viti Rebuild After Devastating House Fire
On December 6, 2025, our beloved friends, parents, and longtime community members, Dave and Theresa Viti, lost everything. Their beautiful log cabin—a home they built with their own hands nearly 40 years ago—was completely consumed by a devastating fire.
They were heartbroken to return and find the house, a sanctuary filled with decades of memories, completely burned to the ground. They have touched countless lives in the community and beyond. If you’ve spent any time in the area, they have likely fed you or someone you know.
A Legacy of Open Doors and Full Bellies
Their lives have been defined by incredible generosity:
- Community Chefs: Dave and Theresa always had an open door, and no one ever left their home with an empty stomach. They were famous for hosting team dinners for their daughters—Nichole Duprey, Christina Rodriguez, and Daniela McDuffie—during their time at Peru High School.
- Feeding the Hungry: They took their passion for feeding others into their community work, helping to start a food kitchen in Morrisonville and Peru.
- Dave’s Famous Bread: Many locals remember Dave from his time baking at Grand Union, where people traveled from all over the North Country just for his incredible bread.
- Theresa’s Dedication: Theresa spent years delivering Little Debbie snacks across the North Country before finishing her career by making delicious dishes for the children of Peru Central School in the cafeteria, where she is still servicing food with a smile.
They Need Our Help Now
Losing a home built with decades of memories is devastating, but replacing every single belonging creates an enormous, immediate financial strain. They lost:
- Clothing, furniture, and medication.
- Priceless family photos and documents.
- Antique and many hand-made personal memorabilia passed down through generations.
The funds raised here will go directly to Dave and Theresa to cover the immediate costs that insurance simply doesn't touch, including:

- Replacing essential supplies and medication.
- The overwhelming costs associated with starting the long and difficult process of rebuilding their lives and home.
