Support Dani's family through unimaginable heartbreak

Hello, our names are Jaime and Abby, and we’re setting up this fundraiser for our beautiful friend Dani, whose world has been completely shattered over the past few months. Her husband James and son Kaleb have both been through unimaginable trauma—and right now, this family desperately needs our support.

Dani and James have been together since they were 20 years old, married for 24 years. They built a life filled with love, raised two incredible children—Tyler-James (17) and Kaleb-Hunter (15)—and shared so many dreams for the future. One of those dreams was a family trip at the end of this year to celebrate their daughter’s high school graduation. That dream has now been replaced by hospital visits, heartbreak, and a fight for survival.

On January 16, 2025, James was diagnosed with appendix cancer after a routine colonoscopy. Just 11 days later, he was rushed into emergency surgery to remove his appendix and sections of his intestines. He was told the procedure had caused his intestines to collapse in on themselves, leaving him unable to digest food.

After a short time recovering at home, James began feeling unwell again. Six weeks later, they received devastating news—the cancer had returned and aggressively spread to his stomach, pelvis, bowel, and intestines. On March 4, he underwent a second major surgery and hasn’t left the hospital since.

James has lost over 30kg, cannot eat, suffers from constant vomiting, and is too weak to walk or sleep comfortably. He is in constant pain and watching him deteriorate has been heartbreaking. On April 15, Dani was told the most devastating news of all—James has just 2 to 4 weeks left to live.

As if that wasn’t enough, on April 13, their son Kaleb was involved in a horrific e-bike accident. After visiting his dad in hospital that morning, Kaleb went out for a ride to clear is mind and that is when the tragic accident occurred. He suffered a broken femur, fractured foot and wrist, and deep wounds requiring ongoing treatment and skin grafts.

Kaleb is now recovering in the same hospital as his dad, but neither has the strength to visit or comfort each other. Dani is doing her best to hold it together, but as a mother and wife, the weight of it all is unimaginable.

With medical costs piling up, mortgage repayments, and day-to-day bills, Dani is under immense financial pressure on top of the emotional toll. We are asking, from the deepest part of our hearts, for your help—so she can focus on being there for James, Kaleb, and their daughter Tyler-James during this heartbreaking time.
