Hello, my name is Danika Boudrie, and I am 20 years old. I am facing one of the most painful hardships of my life — the loss of my grandmother, Linda Boudrie, who adopted and raised me and my brother when I was just 13 months old.

Linda fought terminal cancer with incredible strength, courage, and grace since 2021. On February 9th, 2026, at 5:28 a.m., she passed away peacefully as I slept beside her hospital bed, holding her hand. Being with her in that moment was both devastating and sacred.

My grandmother was my world. In her final years, I became her full-time caregiver. My entire life revolved around her care — I stayed overnight in hospitals, rehab centers, and anywhere she went. I became her voice, her advocate, and her support through every step of her illness. Now, I am trying to advocate for her one last time.

I want nothing more than to give my grandmother the peaceful, beautiful send-off she deserves — one that honors the incredible woman she was. Unfortunately, her passing has left me with the responsibility of covering funeral expenses during an already overwhelming time.

I have been unemployed due to my request for family medical leave being denied, which left me without income. I exhausted my emergency savings while caring for her. On top of this, I am now working to adopt my baby brother and urgently need help securing a custody lawyer to obtain emergency guardianship.

Linda was the most resilient, selfless, and generous person I have ever known. She would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need, without hesitation. She always put my brother and me before herself — every single time.

Hello everyone, it’s Danika. I just wanted to give you all a life update and thank you again for the kindness and support you’ve shown me and my brother.

Unfortunately, I am still working on getting the plumbing fixed in the house. So far I’ve spent thousands of dollars trying to repair it, but the pipes are severely damaged and the work is still ongoing.

On top of that, our home was recently broken into. The people who broke in kicked in the doors, leaving the frames destroyed, and stole hundreds of dollars worth of items. It left the house in complete disarray. I’ve had to replace the doors, frames, and locks, and purchase security cameras to help protect our home and prevent anything like this from happening again. My biggest priority is making sure my brother and I have a safe place to live.

The good news is that I now have a court date for my brother’s custody hearing on March 18th. I am doing everything I can to make sure he is safe and that we can stay together.

Any continued support from this fundraiser will go toward making our home livable again, covering legal and court fees, and helping support me and Mikey while I work toward taking my cosmetology state board exam so I can start building a stable income.
