Support Daniel and Molly's Adoption Journey

Donation protected
Dear friends and family,

Here is an update of what’s been going on with my husband Daniel and I, specifically in regards to starting a family. Over the past few years, we have come to a decision to start a private adoption. We are at a point where we need to generate initial funding to start the long process. Typically, the costs involved are between $30,000-$70,000.

We are looking into the best loan option for us. Once we have worked a few steps into the process, there are grants available that we will start applying for. Just getting those first few steps done would help the process greatly.

We have always considered adoption as a goal, but we were hoping to have a biological child of our own, initially. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be an option at this point. Some of you are familiar with my (Molly) health hurdles in recent years. For those who are not, please read on for general details or plan a coffee with me for more specific information.

At the time of our marriage (2012), Daniel and I were focused on paying off student loans, just out of college in our early 20’s etc. and were a bit strapped financially. On top of that, I became more aware of my physical limitations as far as earning a full-time income. My compromised immune system repeatedly caused struggles with those efforts. Daniel's career has always been the bulk of our income. I did work some part-time, though I am primarily a homemaker.

We paid off major loans and built some equity (little by little) over our early years. During this time I was encouraged by my health care professionals to join a drug study with the National Institutes of Health (in DC). After a few years, the drug I was on seemed to really help my immune issues. The caveat; I was not allowed to get pregnant while on said drug.

In 2019-2020 we rented a bigger place and were considering going off the drug study to start a family. Then Covid-19 hit. With my immune issues I was afraid to go off the drug (just yet) and stayed enrolled in the study. By 2022 we finally started trying in my mid 30’s. That just didn’t work out. In the Spring-Summer of 2023 I had an anemic crash, was hospitalized and needed multiple blood transfusions. With God’s blessing and the support of friends and family I regained my health and that is now under control.
I have a great team of Specialist Doctors following me. Along with a wonderful support system. Regardless, at this point I would be classified as High-risk and a Geriatric pregnancy, along with the bio child likely inheriting my immune issues. At this point we have made the choice to pursue adoption.

We set up a “GoFundMe” page in order to help us on our adoption journey. We are aiming for a goal of $10,000 with startup costs being around $3,000 of that. To those who have made it this far, we thank you for your interest and compassion. We hope you consider a donation of any amount. If it’s just not feasible, we absolutely appreciate your prayers and encouragement as we move forward in this process/adventure.

Love, Daniel & Molly
