Help Us Bring Our Miracle Baby Home
This is one of the hardest things we’ve ever had to do—swallow our pride and ask for help. Those who know me personally know that this isn’t easy, but sometimes life puts you in a position where you have to lean on others.
How It All Started
On January 30th, my life changed forever. I was hanging out with my best friend and his girlfriend when I found myself the awkward third wheel. Jokingly, I turned to her and asked, “Shyla, you got any single friends?” Without hesitation, she tossed me her phone and said, “Good luck.”
The first name I saw? Heather Bilbrey.
I’m not much of a talk-on-the-phone kind of guy, so I texted her:
"Hey, this is weird, but I’m Daniel, and Shyla said to hit you up."
To my surprise, she agreed to meet the next day for a double date at the skating rink. From the first conversation, I knew she was special. And when I laid eyes on her in person, she was the most beautiful girl I had ever seen. The very next day, I asked her to be my girlfriend—she said yes. And that’s where our journey began.
The Heartache & The Hope
From the start, we dreamed of building a family together. But after years of trying and several heartbreaking moments of false hope, we knew something was wrong.
On May 20, 2013, we received devastating news from a fertility specialist: I was sterile. No chance. Zero. None.
To make an already unbearable day worse, an F5 tornado tore through our neighborhood later that evening. It felt like everything was crashing down around us, both literally and figuratively.
Fast forward 11 years—I found myself at a new urologist due to a painful cyst. Offhandedly, I mentioned my previous diagnosis. His response? “Are you sure?”
He convinced me to do more tests, and to my shock, he discovered a 96% chance that I had a blockage—one that could be fixed.
I underwent surgery with high hopes. Unfortunately, complications prevented the doctor from restoring natural function. But there was a silver lining—he was able to retrieve enough sperm for four rounds of IVF.
Why We Need Your Help
IVF is our only chance to have the family we’ve dreamed of. But it comes at a steep cost—$10,000
This is something I never imagined having to ask for, but we can’t do this alone. Every dollar helps. Whether it’s $1 or $100, every bit brings us one step closer to holding our baby in our arms.
We already have names picked out:
Nathaniel Anthony Allen or Avaline Jean Allen.
If you’ve read this far, thank you. If you can’t donate, we completely understand, but sharing our story means the world to us.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being a part of our journey.
With love and gratitude,
Daniel & Heather
