Anyone who knows Miss Dahlia Faye Roop knows she is an old soul with a gentle spirit. She’s a quiet, musical theater star (yes, you read that right!) and a budding young pianist. She’s always had a light in her that shines everywhere she goes. In the last week, we’ve watched that light dim and it has brought us all to our knees.
As Dahlia began 4th grade, she was inexplicably sick for weeks. Lacking the answers we needed, on Wednesday 8/27, Dahlia was taken to the ER and later admitted to the ICU after a CT scan confirmed Chelsea’s worst nightmare. The doctors found a tumor around her brain stem. By Friday, surgeons removed the tumor and sent it to pathology. Yesterday 9/3, we got the test results that we were all afraid to even think. Cancer.
Dahlia needs 4–6 weeks of radiation to get this behind her, and resume school and her normal life as a kid again. We’re asking for help to cover expenses during this time so Chelsea can focus fully on Dahlia’s recovery. If you feel led to give, we are deeply grateful. If you can’t, your prayers mean JUST as much—prayers have carried us through so far, and we know He will see us through this too.
