Cultivator, Inc.

Cultivator was founded in 2016 and our mission is to promote literacy, food access, African American history, and creativity in our rural Northeastern NC service area.

In July of 2020, we started a monthly mobile food distribution in partnership with the Food Bank of the Albemarle, Andrew Brown Family Farm, and Mt. Sinai Church of God in Murfreesboro.

Since then, we have served hundreds of households per month and given away thousands of pounds of food.

Our monthly mobile food distribution costs us over $650 per month. In June of 2025, we lost partial funding for this program when the Healthy Opportunities Pilot was not renewed by the state of North Carolina. Then this week, our remaining funding for the food distribution went away due to the government shutdown.

Every contribution, big or small, makes a real impact on sustaining our food distribution. Even just a few dollars can help move this program forward and continue to reach those who need it most. Funds will be used to transport food from Food Bank of the Albemarle in Elizabeth City, supplies like paper and plastic bags, and yearly volunteer stipends.
