After my SNAP video went viral, so many people reached out asking how they could help. Here’s one meaningful way: another CSU student, Lucianna Phillips, and I are organizing a free Thanksgiving meal for students and community members struggling with food insecurity. We want to make sure everyone has a warm meal and a place to feel welcome this holiday season.
Rams Against Hunger is already providing 125 turkeys to students in need this Thanksgiving, and we wanted to support their efforts by supplying the sides and extras that complete a holiday meal. Our goal is to ensure that every family receives a full, nourishing Thanksgiving kit — not just the turkey.
All funds from this GoFundMe will be deposited into my account and used directly by me, Lucianna and the director of RAMS AGAINST HUNGER Michael Buttram to purchase food and supplies in bulk from Sam’s Club and Costco. I am coordinating with Rams Against Hunger to package and distribute these items on Friday, November 21st, alongside their turkey handout.
The funds will be used to provide complete take-home meal kits for each family, including:
5 lbs of potatoes
6 dinner rolls
1 box of stuffing mix
1 can of green beans
1 gravy packet
1 can of pumpkin
Any remaining funds will go toward packaging supplies or additional food items if demand exceeds expectations.
If you’d like to support us — whether it’s $5 or simply sharing the link — it will help cover food, supplies, and make this holiday meal possible for CSU students and families in need. Thank you so much for helping us make sure no student goes without a warm, complete Thanksgiving dinner this year.
