When something like this happens, there’s no real way to prepare for it. Today, my cousin Crystal, her husband Michael, and their children experienced a house fire that has left their home unsafe to live in for the time being.

While we are incredibly grateful that everyone made it out safely and that their home was not a total loss, the damage has forced them out unexpectedly. Right now, they are displaced and navigating the uncertainty that comes in the immediate aftermath of something like this.

They do have homeowners insurance, but as many know, that process takes time. In the meantime, they are facing the sudden need for temporary housing, replacing essential items, and keeping life as stable and normal as possible for their children during a very overwhelming situation.

This fundraiser is meant to help ease that gap—covering immediate needs like housing, clothing, food, and other day-to-day essentials while they begin the process of cleaning up, repairing, and rebuilding.
