Bench for the Poor — Feast of St. Hyacinth Challenge
August 17 is the feast day of St. Hyacinth, who is often regarded as the patron saint of weightlifters. As Christians, we're called to use every gift we've been given to serve those most in need. This year, we're putting that into practice in a simple way.
By a fitting coincidence, August 17 falls on International Chest Day. So we're turning bench press into an opportunity to raise support for the poor.
How to Participate
- Bench press your 1x bodyweight (male) or 0.75x bodyweight (female) for as many reps as possible.
- Record your set and share it with your friends and followers.
- Make a pledge to donate $1 per rep you complete—or any amount or multiple you're able to give.
- Invite others to do the same, either by taking on the challenge themselves or by sponsoring your reps.
Every dollar raised will go directly to Cross Catholic Outreach through this GoFundMe, helping provide food, clean water, medical care, education, and other essential support to families living in poverty.
Whether you press one rep or fifty, the goal isn't the number on the bar—it's the lives we can help together.
Lift the weight. Lift up the poor.
