Help Expand RI's Creative Reuse Center!

The Creative Reuse Center of RI is just one and a half years old and we are already bursting out of our space in East Providence!
We have the special opportunity to rent an additional space just two doors down from our current Center that we can use for more storage, programs, and even exhibit space!
Far too often we have to turn away big donations because we simply don't have the room. This new site will enable us to say YES, we do want loads of fabric! YES, we do want to run multiple events on one night! YES, we do want to provide a space for our dozens of volunteers to organize donations.
Your contribution will give us the crucial support we need to say YES and expand!
The Creative Reuse Center of RI turns extra materials and supplies from manufacturers and businesses into treasures for educators, artists, kids, and community members. We save reusable materials from the landfill and provide them at affordable prices so you can use them to learn, discover, and create.
Our mission is to:
- Nurture self-discovery and self-actualization through creativity for learners of all ages.
- Provide affordable materials for educators, artists, and community builders.
- Preserve the environment by reusing excess inventory from the business community.
- Aspire to create a space that is explicitly anti-racist, safe and accessible.
In case you haven't been in the space recently (or ever!) here is a beautiful encapsulation by Jodi Anthony, a volunteer with our new Artist in Residence Program. Jodi says, "I think I may have figured something out about why the space feels so magical: I think all the items around us have 'turn around' energy in the mere fact that they were on their way out, discarded, or no longer for purpose in their original use. It has all changed as they now have a next chance waiting to be adopted, reborn, crafted into a new thing! Could it be that as we sit in the center, with all this material around us waiting for its chance to 'have at it' again, this major take two is the very magic we all feel? I think the vibe of second chances is very powerful: for humans it speaks to forgiveness, reinvention and grit."
Thank you for helping to continue to grow and nurture the Creative Reuse Center!

Some numbers:
Last year we rescued approximately 20,000 pounds of materials. We currently have over 50 volunteers, 60 active organizational members, 286 active individual members, and over 320 material donors!
Your contribution can help these numbers continue to grow.
