My cousin’s oncologist brought her case up to a clinical board downtown at Penn and it was discussed about her possibly being a candidate for a clinical trial of a chemotherapy drug. Her past records are being reviewed and if she qualifies she would have to go downtown Philadelphia to be screened. At this time though the trial is not open for any new patients so she would have to wait a month or so for a spot to open. Her oncologist said that those who have been part of this trial seem to have had good results.
We hope to know more this week and if she can’t start the trial yet then she’ll either stay on what she’s been getting or will start another chemotherapy treatment but anything she has now is not going to be as effective as what she had in the past. She has been fighting this now since the end of 2017 and she is not giving up yet but she is scared of what the future may bring.
Cancer is not something to take lightly and the out of pocket costs are astronomical. Her treatment costs over $30,000 just for one session and her insurance does not cover it all so the out of pocket costs are up to $1000-$6000 each time she goes for infusions. The debt is insane!
She made a goal to see her son Nick graduate college which is 4 years from now so she is going to continue to fight. Please help my family in their need of funds and prayers as they will need them.
