Hello, my name is Jaden, and I’m reaching out to ask for your help in securing legal representation for my brother, Corey. I’m currently a student at Michigan Technological University, and as much as I’ve tried to pull together funds, I simply don’t have the financial means to cover the legal costs on my own.

We’ve spoken with several attorneys, and we found one who is not only experienced but also willing to truly listen and advocate for Corey. Her retainer fee is $4,000, with an additional $4,000 required if the case proceeds to a jury trial. I understand this is a significant amount, and while I don’t expect to raise the full amount here, any contribution helps and brings us one step closer to securing the support Corey needs and deserves.

Unfortunately, due to the ongoing nature of the case, I can’t share many details. But what I can share is who Corey is.

Corey is 24 years old, and he’s lived in Upper Michigan for most of his life. He’s not just my big brother—he’s a mentor, a role model, and the kind of person who always puts others first. He has two younger siblings who absolutely adore him. Having spent time in the foster care system, Corey didn’t let hardship define him. Instead, he used his experiences to advocate for change.

He’s worked with the Michigan Youth Opportunity Initiative (MYOI), mentoring foster youth and pushing for improvements in the system. He also co-founded Project RSVP (Reducing Suicide in Veteran Populations)—a nonprofit focused on creating safe spaces for veterans at public events. His heart for service and his drive to make things better for others are just a few of the reasons I am doing everything I can to support him now.
