Support Corey and Family's Journey to Stability

Thank you for taking the time to read this. My name is Sarah Steinsiek, and I am here to try to raise money to help my brothers and their family so they can move into a house and out of the hotel they are currently living in.
My brother Corey, his wife Shahaela, his mom, and three kids along with my younger brother, Tj, moved from San Antonio, Texas to Alamogordo, New Mexico to get out of the big city and start a better life. They do not own a vehicle, but rented a van for the move, knowing that Alamogordo is a “walkable city”. While they had a solid plan in place, a series of unfortunate events that wiped out their moving budget has led them to be stuck living in a hotel room, unable to get ahead due to paying nightly room rent which consumes every dollar they make. Often times, they are unable to even buy food for days on end.
They do have income coming in - Tj works part-time, Shahaela works part-time, and Corey’s mom is disabled. Though Corey is paid by the state to be his mom’s caretaker, he cannot collect this payment without a permanent home address. They have each submitted dozens of job applications for better or more employment, but nothing has yet panned out. Without a home address, many employers are not even considering them, and they cannot claim any of the benefits they qualify for.
They found a home that is affordable and suitable to their needs, and the landlord is willing to work with them on the move-in costs. Their current income would cover their expenses if they were in a home with regular monthly rent, but the motel costs are draining them dry.
With all current expenses considered, if we were to raise $1,800 by January 1st, combined with what remains of their incomes each month, they would have enough to move into the home and be able to get back on their feet. I personally have helped in every way possible, as have a few other family members, but we are unable to come up with this amount on our own. Any little bit of help will add up and be a huge blessing for the lives of this family.
I will be happy to share receipts, photos, updates, and more information as needed. I will be personally ensuring that 100% of funds received go directly to their moving and household expenses. I just want to help this close-knit, loving family get back on their feet and on with their lives.
Moving Cost Breakdown:
Deposit: $990
First Month’s Rent: $990
Utility Connections: $250
Misc. Household Expenses: $150
They also have almost nothing for the house - furniture, bedding, dishes, etc. Donations of used goods or for these goods are also appreciated.
