With everything going on nationally and locally with food resources, education, and availability, I've decided that in November I will be running ten 5Ks throughout the month to raise funds for Connecticut Foodshare, because no one in our community should have to worry about their next meal.
I’m supporting Connecticut Foodshare, an incredible organization dedicated to fighting hunger in our community. Their mission to deliver a more informed and equitable response to hunger is crucial, especially as many families struggle to put food on the table. By mobilizing community partners, volunteers, and supporters, Connecticut Foodshare makes a significant difference in the lives of those in need.
Here’s what Connecticut Foodshare does every single day:
- They partner with the food industry to rescue surplus food that would otherwise go to waste.
- Volunteers sort and pack that food at facilities across the state.
- The food is then distributed to pantries, meal programs, and mobile sites.
- And most importantly, it’s shared with our neighbors all across Connecticut who need it most.
I’m running because I believe in community — in showing up for one another. Every step I take this month is for a family that deserves a full plate and a little less worry. Lately, with SNAP benefits being reduced, more people are turning to food pantries and community programs for support. It’s heartbreaking — and it’s also a reminder that hunger isn’t some distant issue. It’s local. It’s real. And we can do something about it.
