Support Communities and Biodiversity in Rural Lebanon

My name is Blanca Gutiérrez, I have been working in rural Lebanon for 20 years. In 2019, as Lebanon spiraled into economic and political crisis, I began questioning the meaning of true wealth. The collapse of systems, followed by regional wars, led me to reflect on what truly sustains communities: the land.

Together with three associates, I founded Likaa el Ared—“Meeting the Land”—to reconnect people with soil, seeds, biodiversity, and the cultural ties that grow from them. We restore abandoned lands, bringing them back to life and reviving agricultural and culinary traditions.

YOUR HELP WILL:

In collaboration with Inter Cultur, a Finnish non-profit organization, we are organizing this campaign to raise funds to install renewable energy systems and a water management infrastructure. This will enable us to launch full operations, employ more local workers, and begin generating income that stays within the community.

Me llamo Blanca Gutiérrez, soy de origen español y llevo 20 años trabajando en favor de las zonas rurales del Líbano. En 2019, mientras este país entraba en una espiral de crisis, me pregunté sobre el significado de la verdadera riqueza. El colapso del sistema y la situación de inestabilidad y guerra me llevó a reflexionar sobre lo que realmente sostiene a las comunidades: la tierra.

Junto con tres asociados, fundé Likaa el Ared, que significa "Encuentro con la Tierra", con la ilusión de reconectar a las personas con sus raíces regenerando terrenos abandonados, promoviendo la biodiversidad y los lazos culturales. En medio del caos, la tierra ofrece estabilidad y esperanza.

En colaboración con Inter Cultur, una organización sin fines de lucro finlandesa, estamos organizando esta campaña para recaudar fondos que nos permitirán instalar sistemas de energía renovable e infraestructura para la gestión del agua. Esto nos permitirá estabilizar las actividades productivas, emplear a más trabajadores locales y comenzar a generar ingresos que favorezcan a la comunidad.
