My name is Colton Hays and I am a Life Scout with Troop 79 in Edmond, Oklahoma. I am working towards earning the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Scouts BSA. To accomplish this goal, I need to complete my Eagle Scout Service Project.
My Eagle Scout Service Project consists of multiple improvements and additions to the Orvis Risner Elementary School playground. I will be replacing all broken and tattered basketball nets and repainting the court lines. Along with that, I will be adding new, portable soccer goals for the fields. Finally, I will be painting an “Active Calming Wall” on the big brick wall that faces towards the playground. The Active Calming Wall is a visual and interactive way for students to engage in calming activities that promote self-regulation and mindfulness.
Orvis Risner Elementary School is a Title 1 school that serves a diverse population of students, with nearly 55% of students qualifying for free and/or reduced lunches. My project will offer an improved outdoor recess experience for students, staff, and neighborhood families by equipping them with updated basketball and soccer equipment, as well as more options for practicing calming strategies and regaining self-control with an outdoor Active Calming Wall.
With all expenses summed up, including the paint, basketball nets, and soccer goals, I will need to raise $1100 to fully complete my Eagle Project. The Orvis Risner school family and I would be greatly honored for any donations, big or small, to help raise money to achieve this total amount. With your contribution, we can work together to enhance the playground's everyday use by giving fresh energy and opportunity to the school and surrounding community.
Thank you all very much!
