Support Cody's Fight Against ALS

UPDATE:
Thanks to you all, Cody has been able to remain at home with his family and to have the at home care that he needs. It has really hit home for all of us the extent of the financial burden of ALS, particularly because almost all of the at home care he receives is not covered by any insurance plan. As his disease progresses, they are in need of more time with trained caregivers so that he can be comfortable and so that Cody, Leslie, Cody III, Bratton, and Mac can spend time together as a family.
This past week he contracted Covid so please keep him in your thoughts.
UPDATE:
Cody and Leslie have been overwhelmed with the support our community has shown to them thus far. Your generosity has allowed them to upfit their bathroom for Cody’s accessibility, which is a real game-changer for his safety. However, while insurance will cover some necessities, medical equipment, an accessible vehicle for the family, and making the house more wheelchair accessible. This disease requires an attack on all fronts. Your continued help will make a concrete difference for their family.
______________________________________________________________________________
As many of you already know, Cody was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) in November of 2022. The gravity of this news and working to address his care has taken a toll on their family emotionally and financially. With that being said, Cody and Leslie have faith and optimism.
Cody is currently being treated at the highly respected Duke Medical Center ALS Clinic, where he is receiving excellent care from a team including neurologists, pulmonologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists and nutritiononists. This emotional journey will be full of challenges and obstacles for Cody, Leslie, and their three boys, Cody III (15), Bratton (14), and Mac (7).
Cody has never been one to ask for help, but Cody and Leslie’s first and foremost concern is their children’s future. As his family and friends, our wish is to lessen their financial burden by helping to address his healthcare and quality of life needs, including significant medical bills, mobility devices, up-fitting their home, and helping their children continue to live as normally as possible.
Please join us in supporting them!
