Support Coach Raf's Recovery Journey

Dear Family, Friends, and Fans of the Sport of Baseball,

Our dear friend Rafael Rigueiro, aka Coach Raf, recently underwent a significant surgery that will unfortunately keep him away from both the job he loves and the kids who love him for several months. During this time, we are reaching out to his close community of friends, and baseball family to step up and support him as he navigates these uncertain months ahead.

For those of you who don’t know Coach Raf, he’s the kind of person you want coaching your kids. A 6’5” giant with the swagger of a pro baseball player and the calm positivity of a Zen master. His electric personality makes him loved dearly by all the kids he teaches, and he brings so much more to the game of baseball than just technical skills. His mission is to help kids understand the game—not just physically, but mentally as well.

On a professional level, Coach Raf's resume is impressive. In 1998, he was drafted by the Florida Marlins in the 33rd round, marking the start of his professional baseball career. Despite facing setbacks, including Tommy John surgery in 2005, Rafael remained resilient. He was drafted again in 2000, this time by the San Francisco Giants in the 17th round. He spent four years in the Giants’ minor league system, was a major league non roster invitee in 2002, showcasing his pitching prowess and earning recognition for his performances. Striking out 281 batters in 302 innings pitched.

As a coach, Coach Raf’s income comes from working with kids on the field. With his inability to coach for the next few months, this will place a financial strain on him. One way we, as a community, can come together to support Coach is by helping with financial aid. Any funds raised will go toward covering his upcoming medical and living expenses.
