Support indigenous communities actively fighting against the current global climate crisis, defending Mother Earth and autonomy at all costs, even risking their lives.

After several years of not meeting, the peoples that make up the National Indigenous Congress (CNI) will be holding a national meeting to design their strategies in defense of life. Let’s support their effort, which is also ours, and that of all humanity.

The battle of our days is the defense of life itself!

We live it, we know it, but what do we do about it? The news of fires, droughts, pandemics and floods are increasing constantly. Wars and destruction sicken our Mother Earth, and force many peoples to suffer the misfortunes of migration.

But some peoples resist: they defend land, water, air, diversity. They fight also for their women, children, elders, their ancestors and their future generations. In doing so, they fight for us, for humanity, for life itself.

The more than 40 native peoples of the National Indigenous Congress (CNI) are one of the nuclei that, from Mexico, organize rebellion and defy destruction.

The CNI's geographies range from the northern border with the United States to the southern border with Guatemala and Belize. They live, survive and grow autonomies in education, health and justice. While resisting the thousand and one heads of savage capitalism, they weave networks with many peoples and communities of Mexico, Turtle Island, Abya Yala, and the whole world. They share pains, but also hopes; they exchange experiences in the face of endless wars and against the successive campaigns of extermination dressed up in progressive costumes to "civilize" them. They walk inspired by prophecies of a better world, where the Eagle and the Condor join hands.

After surviving the terrible years of pandemic and isolation, the peoples of the CNI are coming together again to analyze the current situation and to plan new tactics and strategies in defense of life. We invite you to join us in supporting their work!

Our Fundraising campaign

This campaign is organized by Sexta Grietas del Norte, a network of organizations, collectives, and individuals, walking together toward building autonomy in the Other United States. We invite all who share the desire to defend our Mother Earth, alongside and together with the original peoples, to contribute to defray the expenses of the CNI meeting.

The funds raised will be used in their entirety to support the organization of the CNI congress, including transportation and food expenses for the delegates of the original peoples who will attend the meeting.

We know that many of us would like to be fighting shoulder to shoulder with them, but since that’s not possible, let’s take this opportunity to make a monetary contribution to their struggle.

Who are the members of the National Indigenous Congress?

Their faces, languages, histories and worlds are a fabric of dignity and diversity.

They are Mayan Zapatista women and men who have built autonomous communities in the southeast of Mexico and are currently suffering the onslaught of paramilitaries and megaprojects.

It is the girl from Xayakalan who did not know her roots until the defense of her land began, and with it the rescue of her culture. Now she proudly wears her traditional dress and is learning her language. Her people continue to defend their lands and waters against real estate companies.

It is the Kumeyay grandmother who gathers her grandchildren and the children of her tribe every summer to teach them the songs, language and traditions of her people who were divided by the border of the nation states called the United States and Mexico.

It is the family of Samir, that Tlahuica communicator murdered for defending his land and water against a thermoelectric plant in Amilcingo, Morelos.

It is those Cholulteca women and men who recovered the water from their wells by shutting down the French bottling company (Danone-Bonafont) that for years had been plundering the vital liquid in Puebla.

It is the traditional female Nahua doctor from Jalisco who, just to demonstrate the flawed electoral system, participated in the pre-electoral campaign for the presidency of Mexico in 2018.

They are the Binni Záa woman and the Yaqui man who representing the CNI Indigenous Governing Council traveled to the northern United States to strengthen ties with brothers and sisters of the original peoples of Turtle Island, fueling the fire of the prophecy of the meeting of the eagle and the condor.

They are men, women, boys, girls, two-spirited indigenous persons who carry alive in their blood, in their flesh, and in their skin all the history, all the hope, all the wisdom, culture, language, medicine and identity, and all the millenary capacity of their people to withstand and overcome storms and conquerors of all kinds.

Within Sexta Grietas del Norte, we are inspired and guided in our own struggle by the seven principles of "to command by obeying" woven by the CNI and the Zapatista Army, which is also part of the CNI.

3. To represent, not supplant

4. To convince, not defeat

5. To obey, not command

6. To work from below, not go above

7. To propose, not impose

Después de varios años de no reunirse, los pueblos que conforman el Congreso Nacional Indigena (CNI) realizarán un encuentro nacional para diseñar sus estrategias en defensa de la vida. Apoyemos su esfuerzo que es también el nuestro y de la humanidad.

La batalla de nuestros días es la defensa de la vida misma

Lo vivimos, lo sabemos pero ¿qué hacemos? Las noticias se multiplican con incendios, sequías, pandemias e inundaciones. Guerras y destrucción enferman a nuestra Madre Tierra y obligan a muchos pueblos a sufrir las desdichas de la migración.

Pero otros pueblos resisten: defienden la tierra, el agua, el aire, la diversidad. Luchan a su vez por sus mujeres, sus niños, sus ancianos, sus ancestros y sus futuras generaciones, y al hacerlo, lo hacen por nosotros, por la humanidad, por la vida misma.

Los más de 40 pueblos originarios del Congreso Nacional Indigena (CNI) son uno de los núcleos que desde México organizan la rebeldía y desafían la destrucción.

Las geografías del CNI van desde la frontera norte con Estados Unidos hasta la frontera sur con Guatemala y Belice. Viven, sobreviven y florecen autonomías en educación, salud y justicia. Mientras resisten las mil y una cabezas del capitalismo salvaje tejen redes de hermandad con muchos pueblos y comunidades de México, de la Isla Tortuga y de Abya Yala y del mundo entero. Comparten dolores pero también esperanzas; intercambian experiencias frente a las interminables guerras y contra las sucesivas campañas de exterminio arropadas con trajes progresistas y para “civilizarles”. Caminan los pueblos inspirados por profecías de un mundo mejor donde águila y cóndor se tomen de la mano.

Después de sobrevivir los terribles años de pandemia y aislamiento, los pueblos del (CNI) se reunen nuevamente para analizar la situación actual y para planear nuevas tácticas y estrategias en defensa de la vida.

Esta campaña es organizada por Sexta Grietas del Norte una red de organizaciones, individuos, colectivos, que caminan juntos hacia la construcción de la autonomía en los Otros Estados Unidos. Invitamos a todos quienes comparten el deseo de defender a nuestra Madre Tierra al lado de y junto con los pueblos originarios a contribuir para sufragar los gastos del encuentro del CNI.

Los fondos recaudados servirán en su totalidad para apoyar a la organización del congreso, incluyendo gastos de transporte y alimentación de los y las delegadas de los pueblos originarios que asistan al encuentro.

Sabemos que muchos quisiéramos estar luchando hombro con hombro con ellos pero como no es posible, nos queda la oportunidad de hacer una contribución monetaria para que sigan su lucha.

Congreso Nacional Indígena

¿Quiénes son miembros del Congreso Nacional Indigena?

Sus rostros, lenguas, historias y mundos son un tejido de dignidades y diversidades

Son mujeres y hombres mayas zapatistas que han construido comunidades autónomas en el sureste de México y que en la actualidad sufren los embates de paramilitares y megaproyectos.

Es la niña de Xayakalan que no conocía sus raíces hasta que se inició la defensa de su tierra y con ello el rescate de su cultura. Ahora orgullosamente viste su traje tradicional y está aprendiendo su lengua. Su pueblo sigue defendiendo sus tierras y sus aguas contra empresas inmobiliarias.

Es la abuela Kumeyay que reúne a sus nietos y a los niños de su tribu cada verano para enseñarles los cantos, lengua y tradiciones de su pueblo que quedó dividido con la frontera de los estados naciones llamados Estados Unidos y México.

Es la familia de Samir, ese comunicador tlahuica asesinado por defender su tierra y agua en contra de una termoeléctrica en Amilcingo, Morelos.

Son esas mujeres y hombres Cholultecas que recuperaron el agua de sus pozos al cerrar ellos mismos la embotelladora francesa (Danone-Bonafont) que por años venía saqueando el vital líquido en Puebla.

Es la médica tradicional Nahua de Jalisco que solo para demostrar lo fallido del sistema electoral, participó en la campaña pre-electoral a la presidencia de México en 2018.

Es la concejala Binni Zaa y el concejal Yaqui que viajaron al norte de Estados Unidos para estrechar lazos con hermanos de pueblos originarios de Isla Tortuga, alimentando el fuego de la profecía del encuentro de águila y cóndor.

Son hombres, mujeres, niños, niñas, hermanoas que llevan viva en su sangre, en su carne y en su piel toda la historia, toda la esperanza, toda la sabiduría, cultura, lengua, medicina e identidad, y toda la milenaria capacidad de sus pueblos de soportar y superar tempestades y conquistadores de todo tipo.

En Sexta Grietas del Norte vemos como una inspiración para nuestra propia lucha los siete principios del “mandar obedeciendo” tejidos por el CNI y por el Ejército Zapatista, que también pertenece al CNI:

1.- Servir y no servirse.

2.- Construir y no destruir.

3.- Representar y no suplantar.

4.- Convencer y no vencer.

5.- Obedecer y no mandar.

6.- Bajar y no subir.

7.- Proponer y no imponer
