Central Maine Showing up for Racial Justice needs your help to continue our campaign to get Know Your Rights information into the community!
We started this campaign so that people can be more informed and empowered in asserting their legal rights. Through our multi-racial organizing we have heard from Black, Brown and undocumented community members who we work with, and we're in community with, that this work is necessary and needed. As a result of our work with Lewiston United for Peace and Hope, a community organizing group that was created after the death of Donald Gusti, and our work with immigrant communities in the years of ramped up ICE activity during the Trump administration, time and again it has been made clear that people need support and empowerment around knowing their rights.
We have been working hard through our volunteer efforts to roll out a Know Your Rights campaign, and after years of effort, we are finally reaching the finish line. You can see our phased approach to the campaign here:

If you are interested in being a part of our Know Your Rights campaign, please reach out to us through our Facebook or email.
We need to pay for translation, printing, stipends, and other potential costs, and we can use your help! You are currently our only source of funding!
1. We have worked with a movement aligned defense attorney, Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project, and a graphic designer to create the above posters. We are working to get them translated into the following languages:
French
Portuguese
Spanish
Lingala
Swahilli
Arabic
Kinyarwanda
Somali
We have translators lined up who would like us to hire them, and the total translation cost will be somewhere between $400-$1,600. So far we have been able to hire people to translate the posters into French, Arabic, Swahili and Lingala (at a cost of $830), and the rest of the translation work may cost around $400. Here's a little look into one of the translations!
2. Next, we will need to cover printing costs. We are going to print smaller handout sized flyers (8 1/2 x 11), and larger poster sized resources (11 x 17) to put up in businesses, on the street, in community centers, and in people's homes. We would like to get things printed on heavy paper stock so that the resources will last. This will cost us at least $1,000.
3. We would like to pay impacted community members stipends to become peer-to-peer Know Your Rights educators. This may cost us around $200.
4. We would like to fundraise $500 on top of this for future print runs and unexpected expenses.
Please help us reach this next exciting phase in our Know Your Rights campaign! We're excited that we finally have resources to share, and we want to get them out there. If you have the financial ability, please donate. Anything helps, from $1-$1,000.
Also, please share with friends and family members who may be interested in supporting us!
