My name is Gwen and I am a person in recovery and one of many single mothers in our amazing community. We are so blessed to have a strong foundation for recovery meetings in our county and despite this, it is difficult for parents at times to attend meetings due to a lack of childcare.
Annapolis is the birth place of Club 164, a non-profit, sober lounge that is also home to over 50 recovery meetings. Club 164 is a respite for those who are seeking to live a productive, joyful and altruistic life, and they are doing it sober. One of the most beneficial aspects of this safe-haven is that people in recovery can take advantage of child care in order to attend a meeting. These meetings are crucial for those who are putting in tremendous work to transform their lives.
Currently, the club has lost the support needed to keep the daycare up and running for much longer. If you are able to contribute to this asset in the community, please do. Your donation helps more than just individuals in recovery, it strengthens our entire community. Every person who finds lasting recovery becomes a ripple of hope, creating a healthier, more compassionate, and more successful society for all. The club helped save my life and having a place for my son while I attended meetings was a big piece of the puzzle.
