Karliana Perdomo is a teammate, student, daughter, sister, and friend who has spent the last several years building a future through hard work, determination, and education.
Today, she needs our help.
Karliana has been detained by ICE since May. With a hearing before an immigration judge expected within the next week, her family is working urgently to secure her release on bond. Funds are needed now to help post that bond and cover related legal expenses as her case moves forward.
As members of the Cleary University Women’s Soccer Team, we organized this fundraiser because Karliana is more than our teammate—she is family.
Anyone who knows Karliana knows her character. She is one of the hardest-working people we know. She shows up for her teammates, supports her friends, and never hesitates to lend a hand. She brings energy, positivity, and determination to everything she does, whether she’s on the soccer field, in the classroom, or helping someone else succeed.
Karliana came to the United States from Venezuela as a teenager with a dream of building a better future. She graduated with honors from Western International High School in Detroit, earned an associate degree in business while playing collegiate soccer at St. Clair County Community College, and transferred to Cleary University, where she is now on the home stretch of earning her bachelor’s degree in business. Her journey and accomplishments have been highlighted in local and statewide media coverage of her case.
Her mother describes Karliana as dedicated, disciplined, responsible, supportive, passionate, and determined. We couldn’t agree more.
Our goal is to raise $20,000 to help cover Karliana’s immigration bond and related legal expenses. Every dollar donated will help bring her one step closer to returning home to her family, her teammates, and the university community that cares deeply about her. If funds remain after legal and bond-related expenses are paid, they will be used to establish scholarships in Karliana’s name to help future students pursue the same educational opportunities she has worked so hard to achieve.
Time is critical. With an important hearing approaching, we are working to raise these funds as quickly as possible.
If you are able to contribute, thank you. If you cannot donate, please consider sharing this page with your friends, family, coworkers, and social networks. Every share helps us reach more people who may be willing to support Karliana during this difficult time.
Together, we can help bring Karliana home and back to the classroom, the soccer field, and the future she has worked so hard to build.
Thank you for standing with Karliana and her family.
