Hi there friends, family, and greater Portland community. It’s time to put our resources together to help a friend in need. Clark has been part of my chosen family for over 15 years, and during that time we’ve lived together, worked together, and shared in laughs and hardships. I can say without a doubt that what Clark is going through right now is particularly horrendous, and support is both needed and greatly appreciated.

In early November, Clark received a phone call that his brother had fallen ill and likely had days left to live. This caused Clark, who is already between housing and staying with friends, to fly back home to Indiana to be with his brother in his final days. Clark’s brother, Logan Callender, died on November 11th, 2025, a loving brother and friend to many. Clark has been staying in Indiana with family and assisting with all of the proceedings that occur after a loved one passes. Clark will have devoted almost two months to coordinating these arrangements for Logan and supporting family once he returns to Portland around Christmas time.

I wish the story ended there, but as if this wasn’t enough, on December 10th, Clark received a phone call that his mother’s stage IV pancreatic cancer had metastasized to her brain. While there is not a lot of information known now about how this illness trajectory will unfold, we do know that this is an enormous weight for Clark to carry while his reserves are very low both emotionally and financially.

Clark will need our help gathering funds to support him over the next three months. Money raised will be used for Clark’s living expenses, travel to Seattle where his mother is located, and to secure housing when he returns to Portland. Clark was working in the service industry/bars prior to these unexpected emergencies, but cannot rely on continued employment after so much time off.

Lastly, if anyone knows of a room for rent in Portland or jobs becoming available, let him know! Clark has extensive experience in the service industry as well as management in food service/grocery. He has also spent a ton of time developing programming skills and is open to work that utilizes this skill set. I can say from personal experience that Clark is fantastic to work with and an even better roommate.

UPDATE: Clark has asked me to share that on December 29th he received a phone call from his father notifying him of his mother's passing.

Thanks to all who have donated, Clark has been able to travel back to Portland and now to Seattle to handle proceedings and to grieve with his family.

Thank you for your continued support in helping Clark navigate this unimaginable loss. Clark has expressed deep gratitude for your help and would like me to pass on his thanks to all current and future contributors.
