Support Claire's Community Service in Tanzania

Hi, my name is Claire. I have been selected to be one of the 30 kids who have been given the opportunity to make a lasting impact on the local communities and villages around the Arusha region of Tanzania. This is a community service and volunteering trip where I would be able to give my service to help make a change.
My eight days in Tanzania will include touring the Arusha region, participating in a highly rewarding programme of community service, youth engagement, learning about sustainable development and exploring the Tarangire National Park where I will discover the diverse range of Tanzanian flora and fauna.
The community service I will be participating in includes:
- Building Fuel Efficient, Smokeless Stoves. Smokeless stoves reduce the amount of smoke produced while cooking and helps to reduce the health risks of inhaling smoke, it also uses less fuel. This results in a less expensive, safer, and overall more efficient energy source.
- Constructing Goat Sheds. The goat sheds we will be building will be equipped with a female goat. This will allow families to have a source of milk and food. If the families decide they can also breed and sell the offspring for money or they can use the females to produce milk and sell that.
- Installing Solar Power Systems. In majority of East Africa, a reliable supply of electricity is non-existent; world bank statistics suggest that only 14% of Tanzanians have access to electricity. This makes it extremely difficult for students to study outside of daylight hours and kerosene lanterns in homes contribute to respiratory issues, burns and house fires. Installing solar powered electricity reduces these issues significantly in a sustainable way.
This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that I was very fortunate to be selected into. I have been wanting to attend this trip for 5 years and now that I have been selected it would mean the world to be able to attend so I can broaden my perspective of the world.
