On October 23, tragedy struck when Christina Murphy-Porte lost her beloved husband, Fitzgerald (Fitz) Porte, from a pulmonary embolism while in the emergency room. He was a loving husband, amazing father, and a loyal friend to many. Fitzgerald had a big heart, a strong work ethic, and a warm, friendly personality that touched everyone who knew him.

Fitzgerald was the main provider for the family, working hard to provide for Christina and four children (ages 4, 9, 13, and 14). He worked two jobs to make ends meet, choosing not to take government assistance. Christina is a stay at home mom and a full-time student at Metro State University.

Despite her strengthen and determination, the financial challenges ahead are overwhelming. Fitzgerald’s life insurance will only cover funeral expenses, and his retirement funds are limited. Without an income while finishing school, Christina needs our generosity to help her cover the basics such as the mortgage, car payment, and her daughter's school tuition.
