Hi everyone, my name is John Harry Jenkins. Last year, I was admitted to hospital after over a year of unexplained severe weight loss, declining vision and vomiting daily, culminating in me collapsing in a restaurant with my family.
I was diagnosed with 2 germinoma brain tumours- one on my pituitary gland and the other on my pineal gland. These tumours are most prevalent in young adults.
Christie Hospice saved my life with both chemotherapy and cutting edge proton beam therapy which is only available in 2 UK hospitals.
I am raising funds for the Christie Hospice because the work that they do is truly lifesaving. The way they make you feel comfortable and the way that they don’t see you as a patient but as a person is totally unique.
On the weekend commencing the 21st March, I will be climbing Snowdon in Wales and Scafell Pike in The Lake District in the same day to raise funds for the charity.
Any donations towards my target would be absolutely appreciated. My friends have lost parents to cancer and together, along with other staff at Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service who are fundraising, we hope to make a massive difference.
All donations to my fundraiser will be sent directly to The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, where they will be used to support the continued development of life-saving treatments and ongoing improvements to the hospital’s facilities
