Support Christian Carbonaro's Eagle Scout Project

Hello! My name is Christian Carbonaro, and my family and I have been parishioners at The Church of the Ascension in Rockville Centre, NY for over 10 years. I am also a Boy Scout working toward the rank of Eagle Scout. As part of the path to Eagle, Scouts must earn 14 required and 7 elective Merit Badges, and complete a Project that benefits their school, religious organization or community organization.

I've earned all the badges I need for Eagle, and the next step for me to reach the summit is to complete my Project. For my Eagle Scout Project, I have decided to give back to our church by helping to beautify its courtyard.

I chose my church as my beneficiary organization because, although the existing church courtyard is very pretty, it needs some improvements so that our church can have events like outdoor church services, our annual church Friendship Fair and other outreach and community events there. Our church is very active in outreach programs to help people who are experiencing poverty, hunger and illness. In that way, our church is an example of of the parts of the Scout Law that speak about being Helpful, Friendly, Kind and Reverent.

Our church was built in 1888, and since it is such an old historical church, it needs a lot of upkeep and care to keep it in great shape so it can continue to serve the community.

I plan on replacing the altar in time for Easter 2025, and completing the other items with volunteers from my Troop and our Parish later in the Spring when weather is warmer. The ultimate goal is for me to complete my entire project before summer.
