To the friends of Chrissy and Paul Schroeder,
As many of you have heard, Chris and Paul’s house went on fire this past weekend in the early morning hours of June 14th. The flames from a fire which started at the house next door spread very quickly to their home while they were sleeping. As grateful as we all are that they got out safely, they’ve lost almost everything that they own. The house is uninhabitable and won’t be for some time. It is going to be a process for them emotionally and psychologically to get past this, and we as a family are going to be there for them at every step of that journey. I know how cliché this sounds, but they (and we) really are not comfortable with doing something like this. I imagine nobody really is, but so many people have asked what they can do, offered to donate things, organize something, and donate money to help them, we really didn't know what else to do. After considering our options, we thought starting this would be the most efficient way to allow people to support Chrissy and Paul with their immediate material needs that they will be facing in the days and weeks ahead. As much as any funds raised will help them start building back with clothing, etc.—I think a show of love and support along with a kind remark will help them heal emotionally-they really need that. They are still processing this whole thing, and I think there will be additional tough moments for them when they slowly take full stock of what they’ve lost over the days and weeks ahead. We'll get them through!
Thank you so much to everyone who has reached out and offered help (You have no idea how much those gestures mean in moments like these—thank you all so much) and on behalf of Chrissy and Paul, a thank you to BFD, the Red Cross and everyone else that was there to help.
Thank you
