Support Chilean Protestors

Donation protected
Since October 17th, an uprising has gripped the nation of Chile. Protesting severe income inequality, police abuses, and a state of emergency declared by right-wing president Sebastián Piñera, millions of Chileans have taken to the streets to demonstrate in defiance of military occupation of major cities and towns and the curtailing free speech, assembly, and movement for the first time since the Pinochet Dictatorship (1973-1990). Thousands have been arrested and at least 15 are confirmed dead, several alleged to have been killed by soldiers. Many more have been wounded at the hands of government forces by rubber bullets, tear gas, and live ammunition. (See campaign updates for more news, photos, and links!)

In response to the continued protests, Santiago neighbors of all ages, races and genders have gotten together to support the protests the high cost of living and the return of the military to the streets of Santiago. Nursing students have set up medic tents to help those hurt by police brutality. Neighbors have set up Ollas Comunes (community kitchens) throughout Santiago’s neighborhoods to ensure everyone assembling gets a meal.

This Gofundme is to raise funds for neighborhood programs that have emerged in recent weeks in the Parque Forestal neighborhood of Santiago – the central space where thousands of Santiaguinos have gathered daily. The first is an Olla Común (community kitchen) for Parque Forestal to fund mobile kitchen supplies and 2 weeks worth of daily lunches. Secondly, a network of medic tents to treat injured demonstrators has been established - please see below for an update from 9 November.

--FECH Medical Services Update--

Urgent! Support medical services at the FECH

On November 8th, due to the large number of injured people who came to
the health clinic at Casa FECH, we don't have many medical supplies
left. We need your help to continue our work and to do so in the best way

which they are not receiving at many other clinics. This will also help
to supply four other clinics on this line, as well as others beyond it.
