I am Prophetess Kayliñña Crown, acting as a private citizen and by divine appointment, I now stand as advocate for Chief Martha Caradine—the first Black female Chief of Police in Ackerman, Mississippi—who was wrongfully demoted, publicly defamed, and targeted with racism, retaliation, and abuse of power.
Martha served the town of Ackerman with honor, courage, and integrity since 2012, rising through the ranks to become Chief. But on September 11, 2025, everything she worked for was stolen in an act of injustice no one should ever face.
What Happened?
Newly appointed Mayor Lauren Carson attempted to manipulate two officers and three board members by trying to gain their trust, gradually positioning herself as an ally in hopes they would turn against Chief Caradine and support her false narrative.
When those efforts failed and the officers refused to participate in her scheme, Carson escalated to retaliation.
The mayor vetoed a 3–2 vote from the Board of Aldermen to retain Martha—against the legal advice of the city attorney, who later resigned in solidarity.
In a public board meeting, the mayor looked at Martha and asked,
“Where is your resignation letter?”
—despite no cause, no performance issues, and no investigation.
She went on Facebook Live, falsely claiming Martha was not qualified and publicly announced she would hire a white male to replace her.
Over 70,000 people saw the post. Local news stations broadcasted it, and it's leveraging to national news. Martha’s reputation, legacy, and career were devastated.
That same day, all 7 police officers and the city attorney resigned—not in protest, but in solidarity and integrity, unwilling to work under unethical leadership.
A City Without Police
Ackerman, Mississippi is now a city without a police force.
Why? Because honest officers and legal professionals could not continue under abuse of power and targeted discrimination. These brave men walked away from their paychecks, pensions, and positions to stand for truth.
