Help Chiava Moua Battle Bulbar ALS

Donation protected
Dear Family, Friends, and Supporters,

Our beloved father, Chiava Moua, was diagnosed with bulbar-onset ALS, a devastating and aggressive form of Lou Gehrig’s disease that affects the muscles responsible for speaking, swallowing, and breathing.

Chiava is 64 years old. He is a proud Hmong immigrant who came to the United States during the Vietnam War in search of safety, opportunity, and a better future for his family. Through incredible hardship and perseverance, he worked tirelessly to achieve the American dream.

For 35 years, Chiava worked at a paper-mill as a machine operator, supporting our family with quiet strength and dignity. He and our mom raised five children, and he is now the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren—the light of his life.

This diagnosis has shaken our entire family. As the disease progresses, it is rapidly robbing our dad of his ability to eat, speak, and eventually move and breathe without assistance. We’re doing everything we can to care for him at home, but the emotional and financial burden is overwhelming.

We’re asking for help to support critical needs, including:
Medical bills for hospital visits, doctor’s appointments, medications, breathing support, transportation to appointments, testing
Durable medical equipment (DME) and supplies: wheelchair, hospital bed, speech device, suction machine, wound care supplies, oral care supplies
Home modifications to make the house wheelchair-accessible and safe
Nutritional support (tube feeding formula and supplies)
• In-home caregiving so he can stay close to family in the comfort of home

Chiava is a man who gave his all—for his family, his community, and his future generations. Now, we’re humbly asking for help to give him the comfort, dignity, and care he deserves.

If you’re able to donate, we are deeply grateful. Every dollar helps us ease the burden and give our dad the best possible quality of life. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this campaign with others.

From our family to yours—thank you for your kindness, prayers, and support.

With gratitude,
The Moua Family

“This is my life now. I’m not sad so don’t be sad. I’ll be okay.”
-Our incredibly strong dad, ChiaVa Moua
