Cheryl Avery, former labor and delivery nurse, suffered a spinal stroke on October 1, 2016, which left her paralyzed from the waist down. This tragic and rare event abruptly ended her retirement plans 40 years in the making, with dreams of traveling with her husband John, spending time with her four grandchildren, and making beautiful quilts. Although she initially made strides in physical therapy, the COVID-19 pandemic forced her sessions to stop, resulting in regression and bed confinement. John dedicated himself to her care, prioritizing her wish to remain at home despite personal health challenges. Unfortunately, their home significantly deteriorated due to the demands of her care.
In March 2025, Cheryl faced a medical emergency and was placed in hospice care after battling septic shock. To fulfill her wish of returning home, our family had to undertake significant preparations and incur unexpected expenses. We humbly request support to alleviate the financial strain of ensuring Cheryl's comfort in her final days. Any help, as well as prayers for our family during this difficult time, would be greatly appreciated.
