Support Charlotte's Fight Against Ovarian Cancer

Donation protected
In May, our hearts broke when we received an extremely gut-wrenching message from our close friends and neighbors of 10+ years, the Goldthorps. Monique shared some devastating news about her daughter, Charlotte. Initially, she thought Charlotte had a stomach bug, but after experiencing severe pain and speaking with the pediatrician, they rushed her to the ER to rule out appendicitis. An ultrasound revealed a large mass on Charlotte's ovary, and they were sent to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) for further testing.

Charlotte, with her incredible strength and determination, underwent major surgery to remove a five-inch tumor from her ovary. Incredibly, she was walking around the hospital the same day and discharged within 48 hours! Charlotte quickly returned to school, eager to finish her last year at Johnson Elementary School in Cherry Hill.

However, the next week when the pathology test results came back, the Goldthorp family's lives turned upside down. Hearing the words "malignant tumor" and "stage 2 cancer" is every parent's worst nightmare, plunging them into a reality no one is ever prepared for. The diagnosis brought a wave of fear, uncertainty, and heartache that is hard to fathom. Suddenly, their daily lives were overshadowed by the constant worry and stress that comes with battling a serious illness.

Regular trips to CHOP are now becoming a central part of their routine as Charlotte prepares to begin her chemotherapy treatment. These visits involve countless medical procedures, tests, and treatments, each one bringing its own set of anxieties and challenges. The Goldthorps have had to adapt to a new normal, balancing hospital visits while trying to maintain a sense of normalcy for Charlotte and Andy. The emotional and physical toll is immense as they navigate this difficult journey with unwavering courage and hope.

Monique and Scott said it best, "Charlotte is so strong with lots of smiles and positive energy every day. She has always been our sunshine girl since she was born. We are now challenged to match her positivity as we support her through the long road ahead."

The Goldthorp family has always been loving, caring, compassionate, and ready to help others. Now, it's our turn to show up and support them.

THANK YOU to everyone in advance for your generosity and to those who continue to reach out to them. All of your donations, big or small, will help support Charlotte's journey to remission.

To our beautiful sunshine girl… you got this! #ShineOnCharlotte
