Subject: URGENT NEED OF FUNDING
Dear Friends, Family, and Community,
My name is Danielle Jackson, and I’m reaching out with humility and hope. I am a full-time, live-in, unpaid caregiver for my daughter, Charity, who has Down’s Syndrome, and the Founder of CHAMPS Resource & Service Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving families in Southeast Seattle.
We started this organization because we believe in the power of community to create change. Our goal is to help people transform their lives, their families, and their neighborhoods. Through CHAMPS Resource & Service Center, we support individuals and families facing poverty by providing access to housing and financial stability services, public health and safety resources, and four major community events each year that bring neighbors together and connect them to vital tools and support.
While I’ve spent years working to help others in need, I now find myself in need of funding.
I became ill and was unable to provide contractual services which generates my income through CHAMPS RSC. During that time I had no income, my savings became depleted, and I had to take out a personal loan just to pay bills. I’m extremely grateful to a friend who kindly stepped in to help for a short while, but the financial pressure has continued to grow. We are now in urgent need of general funding to keep our family stable and our nonprofit work going.
We can’t survive on Charity’s Social Security alone—I’m supposed to be her provider, her stability, her advocate. But right now, we’re struggling just to keep both our home and organization afloat.
We’re asking for your help to raise enough funds to meet our business and living expenses, so we can:
• Put general funds in the organization to pay business expenses and fund my contractual services that will help
• Keep the organization operating, our housing and avoid displacement
• Pay utilities and internet so I can work from home, and Charity can access her educational, entertainment, and therapeutic virtual activities
• Maintain our car and insurance, which are critical for medical appointments
• For food, daily necessities, and medical bills
• Keep our home security alarm active so we feel safe
This is incredibly hard for me—I’m used to being the one who supports others, not the one asking. But this time, we truly need you.
Anything you can give, share, or contribute will make a world of difference for Charity and me. Your support will help us through this difficult chapter and allow us to continue doing the work we love serving others through CHAMPS Resource & Service Center.
