This fundraiser is for medical bills for Chad Wiles.
Starting in December Chad started falling randomly when standing up with no explanation. He was also having problems focusing his mind and was repeating himself. He went to his family doctor and they ran tests on his heart, but found no issues there. They then ran multiple blood tests and found his calcium to be extremely elevated, so they wanted to monitor and run a few more tests. During that time he did very little. He was not able to work regular hours, walk the dog, or even shower for fear of falling. While waiting for weeks for follow ups and test results he started having his legs give out and he was unable to get himself back up. He became weaker daily and lost his desire to eat or drink.
At this point Chad could barely do anything. Physical movement was nearly impossible and his mental clarity was suffering as well. His extended family urged him to seek emergency attention. On January 7th Chad was taken to the hospital in Mountain Home. He received a scan after discussing symptoms and was found to have a brain tumor. He was then transferred by ambulance to C.H.I. St. Vincent Hospital in Sherwood. He was placed in ICU to build his strength for surgery.
On Tuesday, January 14th, he had a 12 hour surgery to remove the brain tumor. Thankfully the tumor was benign and they believe they removed 99% of it. Chad remembers almost nothing for 2-3 days and was unconscious for most of that time after surgery. He was weaker on his left side, but made improvements daily. He remained in the hospital until January 24th and was then moved to the rehabilitation hospital. After a very intense physical rehab and strict diet schedule he was able to walk with a walker and was cleared for release on February 5th. He still attends rehab twice weekly to increase balance, strengthen his legs, and try to get more strength on his left side.
At this point he has begun to receive hospital bills. The first bill was over $7,000.00 and there will be several more coming in the future. They do have insurance, but have a high deductible and only 80% coverage after that deductible, they will still have quite a balance to pay. Without the insurance the bills would be well over $30,000.00 by this point. Chad will still have to have many follow ups and scans to ensure the tumor does not recur and ongoing physical therapy.
Chad is beyond grateful for a positive outcome and to be recovering so well. He would be more than grateful for any contribution to help.
Thank you!
