Cedric Jones, a 43-year-old Highland Park native who lived in Detroit, was working for the Road Commission for Oakland County when he was fatally struck on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, while doing drainage repair on Orchard Lake Road near 10 Mile in Farmington Hills. He was a minister, a father of six, and had only worked for the commission for just over a year .

According to his family, he was married and deeply active in his church community—serving as part of the praise team—while dedicating himself to supporting his wife and children
