Hi, my name is Katrina.

I was born and raised in Cebu, Philippines, before moving to Canada when I was 16. Cebu will always have a special place in my heart. It’s home, the place that taught me strength, resilience, and the importance of community through both the beautiful and challenging times.

Hearing about the recent floods that have affected so many areas where I once walked, played, and built memories has truly broken my heart. Many families have lost their homes, and some have even lost their lives. Others were forced to evacuate, and when they return, they may not have a home to go back to. It’s truly heartbreaking to see how much they’ve lost and to think about how difficult it will be for them to start over, to rebuild their homes, their routines, and their sense of safety from the ground up. Many have lost not just their belongings, but also their sense of stability and comfort.

I had already booked my flight to Cebu a couple of months ago before the typhoon announcement. As I prepared for my trip, I felt a deep calling to help in any way I can while I’m there. I’ve already helped some friends and family who were directly affected, but I want to reach more people and make a bigger impact beyond what I can do alone.

Through this fundraiser, my goal is to provide comfort and relief to those who have lost so much, whether through food, clean water, or other essentials that they badly need right now. While I’m in Cebu, I’ll personally distribute the donations and share updates so you can see how your kindness is helping others.

I know I’m only one person, but I believe that when hearts come together, our love and compassion can create something powerful and life-changing.
