Hi, I’m Cat Rose

I’m running as a Victorian Socialists candidate in our council by-election because I’m sick of seeing inequality grow while essential services get worse.

I would like your help getting the socialist message out in northern Reservoir. As you can imagine socialists don't get funding from businesses and we've got a lot less money than some of the people running against us from major parties. We rely on the acticvity and generosity of our incredible voluteers, members and supporters. Even chipping in $10 will help us print materials to letterbox more locals.

I live in Reservoir and work as a nurse in Melbourne’s busy public hospital system.

I know how the cost-of-living crisis is affecting people in our community. And as a nurse, I see first hand the importance of high-quality public services and the damage the neoliberal agenda of cuts and privatisation has done.

I want to see Darebin Council provide the services we need for healthy and happy lives. Our council should serve our whole community, not just spend council rates south of Bell Street while Reservoir is starved of services. So I will fight for the expansion of the Reservoir Leisure Centre and for publicly-run childcare and aged care services in our community. And I will stand up for environmental protections for Edwardes Lake and Edgars Creek.

I’m a long-time community activist and organiser. I spent many years as a leader in the fight for marriage equality in Australia. More recently I’ve been part of the campaign to save the Preston Market and the movement against Israel’s genocide in Gaza.

If elected as a councillor in Darebin, I’ll fight for you.
