Support Carly's Brave Cancer Battle

Carly Brashear, a beautiful 17-year-old, has recently been diagnosed with a rare cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma. Carly has been undergoing rigorous chemo treatments at Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego and facing this challenge with incredible courage.

The cancer was discovered by one of the remarkable ENT doctors during a routine surgery to clear her sinus area back in March. Much to all our shock, this presumably quick and easy procedure would undercover the soft tissue tumor in her left cheek, leaving her family to hear those words no parent wants to hear.

The entire oncology and medical team at Rady quickly developed a plan of action to fight this cancer battle with all the swords and shields needed to lead her towards ringing that bell and being cancer free, however this process does come with it a long, difficult journey.

After a slew of grueling procedures, Carly is beginning the year of treatments that will include chemo every three weeks and six weeks of radiation five days a week for a year and in true Carly fashion, is embracing these treatments with incredible courage.

Carly has already experienced navigating devastating trauma early in her life. At the age of seven, Carly lost her mother to sudden cardiac arrest while at their family home. Since that time Carly alongside her brother Carter ,and father Gary, continues to remain incredibly close as they continue through life after that tremendous void.

Despite past adversities, Carly’s childhood has been filled with the enjoyment of theater where she loved singing and dancing. She continues to exude an incredibly positive attitude in hopes to soon continue with all of life’s passions on the other side of this arduous process.

Her future is filled with plans to experience new adventures with her friends and family, attend cosmetology school, and eventually her dream of having her own family.

The emotional and financial reality for the family with medical bills, loss of work and other related cost is all just starting to settle in for this upcoming long road to recovery.
