Support Care Worker Left Homeless after Belfast riots

Who We Are Helping:
My name is Fazir, on behalf of the Ugandan community in Northern Ireland I am organizing this fundraiser with the explicit permission of my close friends, Sumayah and Stella.

Sumayah is a dedicated care worker who spends her days looking after the vulnerable and elderly in our Belfast community. Stella is a hardworking student building her future here. They are kind, contributing members of society who give so much to this city.

What Happened:
As many of you have seen in the news, Sumayah and Stella recently lived through an unimaginable nightmare. Their home was targeted and burned down during the recent racist riots. They were trapped inside, terrified, and had to be rescued by emergency services while the mob stood outside.

Just like other care workers across the UK who have been targeted recently, Sumayah works incredibly hard to care for others. For her and Stella to have their home, their safety, and all their belongings taken away overnight is a heart breaking injustice.

Their Current Situation:
Because of the severe fire and smoke damage, they have lost almost everything. In the sheer panic of fleeing the burning building, Sumayah only managed to grab two things: her work uniform and laptop.

What broke Sumayah’s heart the most and brought her to tears was realizing she wasn't able to save the handwritten letters her children had sent her. Those irreplaceable pieces of love were destroyed in the fire, a deeply painful loss that no amount of money can truly replace.

We are raising these funds to try and bring them some comfort and security after such a traumatizing week

Everything else is gone. Stella has lost her university study materials, and they are both currently completely homeless, displaced, and trying to process immense trauma.

How You Can Help:
We are trying to raise money to help them secure a deposit and rent for emergency, safe accommodation, and to replace the basic essentials, everyday clothes, and study materials they lost in the fire.

The people who did this do not represent Belfast. Let’s join together to show Sumayah and Stella that the real community stands behind them, values the work they do, and will help them rebuild. Any donation, big or small, will mean the world to them right now.

We also want to take a moment to send our continued prayers to Stephen Ogilvie for a full and speedy recovery following these horrific events.

A Note on Transparency: All funds from this campaign will be transferred directly to Sumayah and Stella's bank account so they can rebuild their lives. Comments have been disabled to protect their peace and privacy during this traumatic time.
