In the heart of the GTA and Durham Region, there are unsung heroes—local champions who give everything they have to lift up others. They provide food, mentorship, comfort, and safety. They lead, they heal, they give—without asking for anything in return.

Now, it's our turn to give back.

My name is Layla Star Ozuna-Garivay, and I’m the Founder of Canadian Neighborhood Heroes Charity (CNH). This mission comes from a place of deep love and loss.

On September 24, 2019, I lost my beloved son, Donovan Fureious Betty, Jr., to a senseless act of violence. His light, his laughter, and his limitless promise were stolen—but not his legacy. I made a vow that day: Donovan’s name would not be remembered for tragedy, but for transformation.

Canadian Neighborhood Heroes Charity is that vow in action—a community-driven charity born from grief but built on hope.
